This fire was spark by lightning strikes and strong winds which result in widespread fires. A total of 15 people died as a result of this fire and hundreds of residents had to flee to escape the flames.

One of the most striking events was the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. This fire destroyed a large part of the city of Chicago and resulted in tremendous material loss.
